Exploring how early experiences shape our health and development
Supporting the development of healthy brains & bodies
Our research
In the Brain & Body Lab, we study how early experiences with parents affect emotional and physical health throughout life and across generations. Our research examines how these experiences impact key stages of development—childhood, adolescence, and the transition to parenthood. Taking a holistic approach, we explore how these early moments influence both the brain and body, building a dynamic and sophisticated understanding of an individual’s functioning.
Our interdisciplinary toolbox includes applying theory and behavioral observation, studying human relationships, assessing physiological reactivity, measuring brain structure and function, and integrating multiple sources of biological data.
Our goal is to improve well-being from infancy to adulthood, helping people lead healthier lives now and in the future.
We are recruiting research participants of all ages! Participating in research studies can be a valuable family experience.
Commitment to training
Our mission is to do good science that makes a difference. We strive to be passionate about the big picture guiding our research program, adhere to the highest ethical standards, and create rigorous, high-quality science geared towards the benefit of individuals and society.
We aim to be nurturing, challenging, and stimulating to students. We aim to be respectful of families and participants and to create an engaging and meaningful participation experience for them.
