Fran studies how experiences of early life adversity shape the gut-microbiome-brain-immune axis in ways that contribute to risk for anxiety, depression, and commonly co-morbid physical symptoms (e.g., fatigue, pain). Fran also studies factors that promote well-being for children who have been exposed to early adversity, such as positive relationships. Fran graduated from Pomona College and worked as a study coordinator at Stanford University before grad school.
Outside of the lab, she enjoys cooking, outdoor activities, and exploring the West Coast.
